Ottawa Valley Englishにおける不定詞の研究。現代の標準的な英語では不可能なfor to不定詞が可能である。
(1) a. Mary wants for to leave.
b. Mary would be happy for to get some bagles.
c. This is a machine for to cut hair with.
このforはどんな不定詞に付くわけでもない。
(6) a. *John promised Bill for to leave.
b. *John was sure for to know the answer.
c. *John tried for to learn the poem.
(7) a. *The lads on the river were sure for to catch a few fish.
b. *He grew for to be a famous judge.
c. *John allows his son for to drive the car.

You are here for the fish. ~ I am here for to fish. ~ I am here in order (for) to fish.
You went for the cigarettes. ~ I went for to get cigarettes. ~ I went out in order (for) to get cigarettes.
しかし,
Mary would be happy for to get some bagles. ~ *I am happy in order for to get business.
This is a machine for to cut hair with. ~ *These things are in order for to read.

b. I brought you some pills for {medication./taking when you're sick./to take when you are sick.}
